Gut Microbiome Interactions with Reproductive Axis and Metabolism

A postdoctoral fellowship position is available to study the role of the gut microbiome in polycystic ovary syndrome, a disorder that is the leading cause of infertility in women and causes significant metabolic dysfunction. Recent studies from the Thackray lab demonstrated that changes in the gut microbiome are correlated with PCOS in women and in rodent models of the disorder and that these changes are linked with hyperandrogenism. The Thackray lab is affiliated with the Center for Reproductive Science and Medicine at UC San Diego and the Center for Microbial Innovation.

Candidates should have a Ph.D. and a strong background in physiology, endocrinology or reproductive biology is preferred. Experience working with mouse models is desired.

An opening on the Postdoctoral Training Program in Reproductive Sciences funded by NIH/NICHD is available for one year (U.S. Citizen or Green card status required) and additional support is available through an R01 grant and a K12 Institutional Research and Academic Career Development Award (IRACDA).

Salary is commensurate with UCSD pay scale.

If interested, please contact Dr. Varykina Thackray at vthackray@ucsd.edu and provide a full CV and contact info for three references.
